5 Reasons to Watch the BPL this Weekend
Preview provided by  Louie Smith
It’s been an unforgettable Premier League campaign and one that has thrown up so many shocks with Leicester City winning the league, Chelsea’s catastrophic title defence and giants Aston Villa and Newcastle being relegated.
And as usual it’s a sad time for football fans as the season draws to a close [Thank god for the Euro’s].
The final day of the Premier League will be a slight anti-climax with many clubs having nothing to play for, however here’s five reasons to watch the season finale this weekend:
John Terry’s Farewell - Chelsea take on newly crowned champions Leicester City and whilst JT won’t be able to play due to suspension, he will still be saying farewell to the Chelsea fans post match.
John Terry’s career hasn’t been without it's controversies, but it’s a well-known fact he’s one of the best defenders to grace the division. Much like when Scholes, Gerrard, Beckham and Lampard left, it signals the end of an era and he’s certainly cemented his legacy at Chelsea.
Chelsea could still decide to make a u-turn and keep Terry, but at the moment, it looks as if he’s heading for the Chinese Super League. The Chelsea die-hard fans will have big tributes planned for the long-serving defender in what will be an emotional farewell, which you won’t want to miss on Saturday.
Top Four Race - It’s been more of a stumble than a race, and fourth spot is still up for grabs on the last day, however you’d fancy Manchester City to get over the line ahead of City rivals United.
Louis Van Gaal’s army squandered a golden opportunity to take fourth spot in mid-week, when a trip to West Ham’s Boleyn Ground was too much to handle and they lost 3-2 in a heated atmosphere, as The Hammers gave their stadium of 112 years the perfect send off.
That defeat means if City don’t lose to Swansea they will all but secure Champions League football [Pep Guardiola breathes sigh of relief] however United will be keen to take advantage if City fail, when they take on Bournemouth at home this weekend. The race for top four is still on, but let’s say United have their legs tied together at the moment.
Manager’s Exodus - For every overachiever, there's an underachiever and whilst teams like Leicester, Spurs, and West Ham have thrived this season, Chelsea and Everton are just two that have declined.
We already know Guus Hiddink isn’t staying at Chelsea and he might not be the only manager participating in his last Premier League game. In breaking news, Everton's Roberto Martinez has just been sacked, meaning there's already a high-profile club looking for new management.
Another Spaniard in danger is Watford’s Quique Sanchez Flores, despite what many outsiders feel has been a great season for The Hornets, the club's owners are discontent with the second half of the season and it’s expected he’ll be sacked in the off-season.
Rafa Benitez makes it a hat-trick of Spaniard’s expected to depart, however in a completely different scenario. With Newcastle relegated many feel Benitez will have too many big offers to hang around on Tyneside, but who knows, perhaps he can be persuaded to endure Burton Albion away.
We’ll also be saying goodbye to Manuel Pellegrini, as he prepares to make way for Pep Guardiola, although if you believe rumours we may be seeing the Chilean in the Premier League next year just with a different club.
Ranieri Returns a Champion - As John Terry says goodbye, the man who gave him his first Chelsea opportunity, Claudio Ranieri returns to Stamford Bridge as a Premier League winner.
It’s the sort of story only the footballing gods could conjure up, and as well as the tributes for JT, a few Blues supporters are bound to pay homage to Claudio and congratulate the Italian on what he’s accomplished.
Some fans will feel it’s embarrassing considering Chelsea were the reigning champions, however, most people won’t begrudge the Leicester manager’s fairytale story, in what will be a fascinating climax to The Foxes historical season.
Witness How the Mighty have Fallen - Aston Villa will be keen to end their torment as they close out a horrific season which has seen them relegated from the Premier League for the first time.
With the way they have failed to put up any kind of fight and under the current ownership you have to really fear for the Birmingham club’s future, and a bounce-back isn’t guaranteed, so you may want to catch their last top flight game for awhile when they take on Arsenal away. [Good luck lads]
Villa will be joined in the Championship by Newcastle United, a club who are used to underachieving and have been in this predicament before. Once again, questionable ownership and poor decisions have seen the north-east club spiral out of control and they face Tottenham in their last fixture.
Both clubs are bound to participate in heavy protests against their ownership, and the ugly scenes that unfold could make for interesting viewership.

Newcastle and Sunderland fight for Premier League survival
Newcastle United and Sunderland stand to lose £55m-£65m if they are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season according to football finance experts Deloitte.
Deloitte’s Sports Business Group told ITV Tyne Tees that the vast majority of the reduction in income would be due to lost television revenue - around £50m. The rest of the hit would come through losses sustained in matchday and commercial revenues.
Sunderland play Everton tonight: a win would see them stay in the Premier League and would ensure Newcastle are relegated.

Mohammedan SC's I-League promotion hopes fade after a draw against Dempo
GOA: Mohammedan Sporting Club suffered a major setback in the race for the promotion to the Hero I-League after a goalless draw against Dempo SC in their final round clash of the I-League 2 nd Division on Wednesday.

The draw at Fatorda Stadium has not done the Kolkata outfit any fovours, who now have 12 points from 8 games and have fallen five points behind Dempo. However, the result would definately encourage Minerva Academy FC who are on 15 points having played the same number of matches.

Going into the match Mohammedan SC gaffer Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. made only change to the side from the previous match against LoneStar Kashmir FC by handing start to Sheikh Faiaz over Nagen Tamang.

In a game involving high stakes both the teams started off with caution. However, Mohammedan SC were more organized in attack but could not able penetrate into rival box as the Dempo defenders done well to keep the strike pair of Ajay Singh and Simabarashe Gate in check.

Ajay, who was a marked-man from the beginning, had the first chance to put the visitors ahead but his effort from Antoni Soren's pass was denied by the rival custodian Laxmikant Kattmani in the 19 th minute.

Dempo, on the other hand, came close to scoring on a couple of occassions through Romeo Fernandes and Felix Chidi Odili but the Mohammedan defense thwarted their attempts with ease.

Changing over, Mohammedan SC kept on probing into the Dempo half and they came close with Ajay and Faiaz but Kattimani pulled off some good saves, which build frustration in the Mohammedan SC dugout.

The Black Panthers put relentless pressure on the rival defense in the last 15 minutes of the game, but Dempo managed to hold on defending deep as the game ended scoreless.

Mohammedan SC now travel to Gangtok where they take on Gangtok Himalayan SC on 19 th May.

Mohammedan edge past Lonestar Kashmir FC by a solitary goal
SRINAGAR: Mohammedan Sporting Club rode on Ajay Singh's first half strike to beat Lonestar Kashmir FC 1-0 in their final round encounter of the I-League 2nd Division at the Synthetic Turf Stadium in Sringar on Sunday.
Going into the game Mohammedan SC coach Subrata Bhattacharya (Jr.) made three changes to the side that played 1-1 against Minerva Academy FC on Thursday. Simbarashe Gate replaced James Moga who picked up a red card in last match while Mumtaz Akhtar and Sheikh Faiaz made way for Bisheshwor Singh and Pritam Singh respectively.
Mohammedan SC started the match strongly and went ahead within three minutes into the game when their skipper Ajay Singh slotted home to give the visitors early advantage.
Having scored, Mohammedan SC grew in confidence placing a flurry of attacks into the Kashmir box. From one of those chances Simbarashe almost doubled the lead for his side in the 22nd minute but the Zimbabwean's effort was blocked by Kashmir keeper Harpreet Singh at the near post.
Seven minutes later Nagen Tamang tried his luck from a long range effort which sailed over the crossbar without giving much trouble to Harpreet.
Meanwhile, the hosts also created some good moves in patches. Adil Khan and Altamash Sayed made some attempts on the Mohammedan SC goal, however could not able to convert as the first session concluded with Mohammedan SC leading 1-0.
The second half completely belonged to Mohammedan SC. The visitors attacked right from the word go and made the first attempt in the 52nd minute through Ajay who done well to control the ball on the right side before shoting one towards the goal which missed the target by a whisker.
Thereafter, Mohammedan SC dominated much of the proceedings but failed to increase the tally despite having some close chances as the scoreline remain unchanged at the full time.
Mohammedan SC who now have 11 points from 7 games will take on Dempo SC next on Wednesday at Goa.

Black hails 'breathtaking' Villa faithful
Eric Black described Aston Villa's fans as "breathtaking" during the relegated team's final home appearance in the Premier League.
The West Midlands side were consigned to the second tier last month when they lost 1-0 at Manchester United, suffering their first demotion since 1986-87.
Supporters have made no secret of their displeasure at the team's sorry state of affairs in 2015-16, some protesting against owner Randy Lerner during an organised march to Villa Park on Saturday.
But caretaker manager Black could not fault their backing during a 0-0 draw with struggling Newcastle United.
"I think the response from the supporters was breathtaking, for me," he said.
"We never knew what was going to happen but I think they saw the players had continued from last week and worked tirelessly, " he added, referring to a somewhat improved showing in a 3-2 defeat at Watford last time out.

"We took a little step toward them [the supporters]. It is very difficult when you are setting up a team which has lost 72 goals this season.
"To take teams on is difficult at times and we had one or two injuries as well.
"A good result is obviously important but for me the most important part is getting the supporters back on side before the end of this season and for the start of next season. I think you witnessed that today.
"The atmosphere in there was pretty close to the 12th man when it gets rocking. We need them and I think the players deserve a little credit for taking that step toward them again."
The result against Newcastle ended a sequence of 11 consecutive defeats, Villa narrowly avoiding setting a new club record for successive league losses.
"It is a relief more than anything else," Black added.
"We knew we were relegated for some time but the main aim and the most important factor is to make sure some of these supporters come back with slightly more optimism than they would have.
"It's a small step, very small, I'm not saying it is any more than that. But small steps are needed to build something."
Villa's final top-flight match will come away to Arsenal next Sunday before they begin preparing for life in the Championship.

Benitez disappointed by profligate Newcastle
Rafael Benitez refused to rule Newcastle United out of the Premier League survival race but admitted his disappointment at their failure to beat Aston Villa on Saturday.
The goalless draw, combined with Sunderland's stirring 3-2 victory at home to Chelsea, saw Newcastle slip back into the relegation zone and a win for the Black Cats at home to Everton on Wednesday would relegate Benitez's men to the Championship.
Their fate is now out of their hands and a downcast Benitez cut a frustrated figure.
He said: "We are disappointed. We now have to wait, see what they do during the week and then try to win our game.
"We were a little bit anxious in the first half. We were not comfortable in possession. In the second half, we had some good chances but you need to take them and we didn’t do that.
"We had to change things in the second half. We did that, but it was not enough. The players are disappointed.
"It was an opportunity to stay ahead of Sunderland and we couldn't do it.
"But you cannot change things, just analyse what you've done and be sure that you are right if it goes to the last game."
Aleksandar Mitrovic, a second-half replacement for the ineffective Papiss Cisse, also lamented the Magpies' wastefulness in front of goal against already-relegated Villa.
He said: "We had our chances but we didn't score. It's a bad result for us.
"I should have scored but I didn't. I didn't follow the game but I think Sunderland had very good news.
"We need to win our game and wait to see what they do. We'll see.
"They [Villa] were so defensive, they didn't want to score goals. I don't know why they played like this but we had our chances and should have won the game.
"We still have a chance."

Obertan, Marveaux released by Newcastle

Official News (PR)
Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux have left Newcastle United by mutual consent.
Former Manchester United winger Obertan, who has battled a hamstring problem for much of the season, has not played since the 2-2 draw with Chelsea in September.
Marveaux spent last season on loan with Guingamp in Ligue 1 and has not played for the senior Newcastle side this term, making the matchday squad on just two occasions.
Both players' contracts were due to expire at the end of the season but, with neither set to be involved in the final two Premier League games, they have agreed to terminate their deals.
"Newcastle United can confirm that Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux have left St James' Park by mutual consent," a club statement released on Thursday read.
"The contracts of the French pair were due to expire this summer, but with them almost certainly not going to feature in the Magpies' remaining games of the 2015-16 season, a settlement was agreed earlier this week, allowing them to find new clubs.
"Everyone at Newcastle United wishes Gabriel and Sylvain the very best for the future."

Mills: Newcastle Needed Rafa Earlier
"With hindsight, I’m sure the Newcastle owners wish they had replaced Steve McClaren a month earlier because Rafa Benitez has really turned things around and is getting results. Sadly for them Premier League safety still isn’t in their hands and might not be after Norwich and Sunderland play their games in hand.
I fancy Sunderland to get out of it. I don’t think Chelsea will be as up for the fight as they were against Tottenham. Their mission was to stop Spurs winning the title and they’ve achieved that. They were celebrating as much as Leicester City were. Sunderland’s intensity will cause Chelsea problems. Then they have very winnable games against Everton and Watford. Combined with a safety net of superior goal difference I think the Black Cats will stay up.
You would assume Newcastle will beat Villa but in their final game they might face a Spurs side still desperate to finish above Arsenal and overturn the shock defeat they suffered against the Magpies at the Lane earlier this season with Harry Kane on the hunt for a Golden Boot. All that could equate to a very difficult last day for Newcastle.
But it’s not all doom and gloom for Newcastle. Andros Townsend has been a breath of fresh air going forward and he will be desperate to get one over his former employers. What a story that would be if his contribution on the final day were to keep them up! Sadly, if Newcastle do go down I don’t think they’ll be able to keep hold of their manager for next season."
Danny Mills was talking to correspondent Mark Godfrey.

Newcastle United loanee could move to Leicester City
Italian media outlet La Roma 24 is reporting that Seydou Doumbia’s agent has responded to comments that the striker could be set for a possible move to Leicester City this summer.
Doumbia joined Newcastle United during the January transfer window on a loan deal from Roma until the end of the season with view to permanent move.
But it appears increasingly unlikely that the striker will get the permanent deal at St James Park, after only getting on the pitch for a total of 29 minutes during his time at the club so far.
Speaking about Doumbia’s future and the Leicester rumours his agent Jean Bernard Beytrison said “I don’t know. Let’s see. I’ve still not been contacted by the club.”
He added: “Next week I will go to Switzerland and we will analyse the situation to figure out what we want to do.”
The Leicester fans in The Tavern do not think signing Doumbia would be a good move for the club and feel there are better options available to the club at this time!
Our landlord feels that Doumbia is a lethal striker on his day, but simply isn’t consistent enough, so thinks a move to Leicester City would be a bad move all round!

Mohammedans hold Minerva Academy
A 10-man Mohammedan Sporting Club rallied to hold Minerva Academy FC 1-1 in their final round encounter of the ongoing I-League 2nd Division here on Thursday at the Sector 17 Football Ground in Chandigarh.

Minerva took the early lead through Manvir Singh who slotted one past Priyant Singh in the 7th minute to put his side ahead.

Having sufferd early jolt, Mohammedan SC began pressing in numbers in search of the equalizer while in the process close chances fell for James Moga and Nagen Tamang but led by Kareem Omolaja Nurain the Minerva defense stood firm denying Mohammedan SC attackers.

However, just when Minerva were looking good to take their slender advantage into the half-time Mohammedan SC found the equalizer through Moga who converted a spot kick to put Mohammedan SC back on level in the injury time.

Mohammedan SC began the second-half on the front foot. The Subrata Bhattacharya's (Jr.) side created some good chances through Moga and Ajay but poor finishing upfront and a red card to Moga in the 57th minutes dashed Mohammedan SC's chances of winning the tie as the referee blew final whistle with scores locked 1-1.

The draw means Minerva remain on second position with 12 points from 7 games while Mohammedan SC climbed up to third on 8 points from 6 games.

Mohammedan SC will now travel to Srinagar where they face Lonestar Kashmir FC on Sunday (May 8, 2016).

FORMER CHAMPIONS COMPLETE LAST 16 LINE-UP
Former AFC Champions League winners Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors from Korea Republic will face Australia’s Melbourne Victory in the last 16 of the AFC Champions League after the 2006 winners shared a 2-2 at home to China’s Jiangsu FC on Wednesday.
Former winners Al Hilal, Al Ain, and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors joined Melbourne Victory, FC Tokyo, Lokomotiv and Al Nasr in claiming the remaining places in the last 16 of the AFC Champions League this.

Shanghai SIPG, Sydney FC, Tractorsazi Tabriz, Zobahan, Lekhwiya, Shandong Luneng, FC Seoul, El Jaish and Urawa Red Diamonds had already qualified for the Round of 16, which will take place later this month, ahead of the final round of group ties.

Australia’s Melbourne are among five sides who advanced from the group stage for the first time, but did so by the slimmest of margins as a 2-1 victory against Japan’s Gamba Osaka in Group G meant the A-League side edged out Korea Republic’s Suwon Samsung Bluewings despite the K-League side recording a 3-0 win at home to Shanghai this week.

“It is a big achievement considering we’ve had five attempts. On our fifth one we were successful and that joy right now is overriding trying to analyse the performance or anything like that,” said Melbourne coach Kevin Muscat.

“It’s great for the football club and we’ve managed to create some history for a couple of times this year in fact.”

“All be it I’m so elated for the group, the difficulties of not having a game or many games – it’s not a complaint or an excuse, it’s tough going – but what that has given me is an unbelievable thirst and hunger to go and win the next tie.”

Muscat and Melbourne will next face another Korean test in the Round of 16 in the shape of K-League champions Jeonbuk after the 2006 winners drew 2-2 at home to China’s Jiangsu FC to win Group E with FC Japan’s Tokyo taking second place after a 2-1 win over Vietnam’s Becamex Binh Duong.

Hiroshi Jofuku’s FC Tokyo will now face China’s Shanghai who had already won Group G before Wednesday’s defeat to Suwon.

Fellow Chinese Super League side Shandong, meanwhile, will take on Australia’s Sydney FC for a place in the quarter-finals after the A-League side topped Group H despite a 1-0 defeat to China’s Guangzhou Evergrande on Tuesday.

Urawa were Sydney’s Matchday Six challengers for first place, but with the 2007 winners drawing 1-1 with Korea’s Pohang Steelers, the J.League side finished in second place and will meet Group F winners FC Seoul in a fortnight’s time.

In the West, Al Hilal were indebted to Ailton’s 71st minute strike to secure a 2-1 win over Group C winners Tractorsazi of Iran which means the Saudi Arabian side edged out Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor to secure second place and a Round of 16 tie with Lokomotiv despite the side from Uzbekistan beating Al Jazira.

“We deserved to win tonight despite all the circumstances that we had in the previous period including the three consecutive defeats we suffered either in the local league or in the AFC Champions League,” said Al Hilal coach Giorgos Donis.

“The introduction of Ailton was at the right time. He proved that he’s an important player as he scored the winner.”

Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv topped Group A as their goalless draw with Al Nasr of the United Arab Emirates ensured both teams advanced at the expense of two-time champions Al Ittihad from Saudi Arabia, who exited the competition despite recording a 3-0 win over Iran’s Sepahan.

Tractorsazi, meanwhile, will mark their first appearance in the Round of 16 with a tie against fellow knockout stage debutants Al Nasr.

Finally, inaugural winners Al Ain secured their place in the last 16 as 2-0 win over Nasaf of Uzbekistan secured second place in Group D despite Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli beating table topping El Jaish from Qatar.

El Jaish will face Group B runners-up and fellow Qatar Stars League side Lekhwiya in the last 16, while Al Ain will take on Group B winners and 2010 runners-up Zobahan of Iran.

Zobahan completed their unbeaten campaign with a 3-0 away win over Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, while Lekhwiya shared a goalless draw at home to Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor.

Wonga record losses put in doubt Newcastle United partnership
When Wonga was added to the list of Mike Ashley’s crimes against the good name of Newcastle, many fans were appalled.
One of the poorest regions in the UK having a legal loan shark charging ridiculous levels of interest emblazoned across the shirt of it’s football club, yet another reason for the once good name of the club to be dragged through the mud.
However, those unhappy fans may have reason for hope, as it looks increasingly unlikely that Wonga will be continuing their relationship with Newcastle United.
A crackdown on payday lenders led to a £37.3m loss by Wonga in 2014 and now the figures for 2015 have been released and the slide continues at a pace.
The 2015 losses are £80.2m and the company saw revenue drop from £217.2m to only £77.3m, Wonga blaming the regulatory body’s stricter lending criteria and introduction of a regulatory price cap.

MOHAMMEDAN SC FACE MINERVA; HIGH STAKES ENCOUNTER FOR BOTH
Mohammedan Sporting Club will look to continue their winning run in the I-League 2 nd Division when they face Minerva Academy FC tomorrow in an Final Round fixture at the Sector 17 Football Ground in Chandigarh.

Playing their first away game of the campaign, Mohammedan SC (7 pts) will be eager to close the gap between themselves and leaders Dempo SC (13 pts) and a win on the morrow would turn out to be very crucial for the visitors as the league is heading towards it’s business end. Similarly, Minerva (11 pts) who are on second position will also hoping for a positive result which will take them to 14, one above Dempo.

The final round campaign did not started well for Mohammedan SC, at one stage they were looking down and out without a single point from their first two outings but the Subrata Bhattacharya (Jr.) coached side made a tremendous recovery since then collecting seven points from next three games where they have conceded only one goal, that also from penalty.

Mohammedan SC, who beat Neroca FC 2-0 last weekend, will be facing Minerva exactly after a month from their first-leg encounter at Barasat and the Black Panthers will be looking to set the record straight on Minerva having suffered 1-2 defeat that afternoon.

“We had a good game against Neroca last week. Despite missing a few key players, we played according to our plan with players complimenting each other, which is a very good sign going into an away game,” coach Bhattachaya said on the eve of the clash.

Seeing James Moga and Ajay Singh looking sharp in front of goal will please cocah Bhattacharya ahead of the high voltage clash, but the defense led by Ivorian Lancine Toure is the greatest strength for Mohammedan SC so far in the competition.

Minerva, on the other hand, enjoying a winning streak of their own having logged successive home wins over Lonestar Kashmir FC and Gangtok Himalayan SC will look forward to extend it further and the Punjab outfit have enough potential in their side for doing the same.

Going into the match Minerva coach Surinder Singh will rely on team’s top scorer Sehijpal Singh to break the rival defense, who has already done it once a month before. Nigerian Bala Alhassan Dahir is expected to marshall the midfield while Kareem Omolaja Nurain will be leading the back-line.

"Minerva is not an easy team to play especially in their home ground but players are up for the challenge. We did have a commendable performances in last two games, but that is past and I don’t want the players to get complacent. We are not thinking too far ahead and only concentrating on the task at hand.” coach Bhattachaya added.

On the team news front, Mohammedan SC will boosted by the return Toure and Nagen Tamang who are back after serving a one match suspension for two yellow cards. However, Mohammedan SC will miss the services of Imran Khan as he picked up viral fever while Manish Maithani is still unavailable for selection.

The game at Chandigarh kicks-off at 4.00 pm on Thursday (May 5, 2016).

SIX TEAMS FACE FINAL PUSH FOR LAST 16 PLACES
China's Jiangsu FC beat Vietnam's Becamex Binh Duong 3-0 last month in the AFC Champions League and head into the final round of fixtures on Wednesday in the hunt for a place in the last 16.
Former continental champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of Korea Republic and Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia as well as China's Jiangsu FC, J.League side FC Tokyo, Uzbekistan's Lokomotiv and Al Nasr of the United Arab Emirates are in the running for the final four remaining places in the last 16 of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday,

Jiangsu currently occupy second spot in Group  E and sit just a point behind table-topping hosts Jeonbuk after defeating Vietnam's Becamex Binh Duong 3-0 a fortnight ago, but FC Tokyo are only point behind heading into the final Matchday.

Victory over 2006 winners Jeonbuk would ensure Dan Petrescu's Jiangsu top the group, while matching or bettering FC Tokyo's result against already-eliminated Binh Duong would also take the Chinese Super League side through.

A draw or a win for FC Tokyo in Vietnam, meanwhile, would ensure the Japanese club make a second appearance in the Round of 16.

“In our next game we play away against Jeonbuk. It is going to be extremely difficult as they are the Korean champions,” said Petrescu, who will be without defender Li Ang due to suspension.

“We could qualify for the Round of 16 if we win, but if we lose, we will have to see what happens between FC Tokyo and Binh Duong.”

Jeonbuk midfielder Kim Bo-kyung and forward Ricardo Lopes will be absent from the match at Jeonju World Cup Stadium due to suspension, while in the tie at Binh Duong Stadium, Le Tan Tai is ruled out for the hosts.

Elsewhere, two-time AFC Champions League winners Al Ittihad, Lokomotiv and Al Nasr will all have their parts to play in the concluding ties in Group A.

Al Ittihad are currently are two points adrift of second place and must beat already-eliminated Sepahan of Iran and hope that either Lokomotiv and Al Nasr claim victory in Tashkent.

Goalkeeper Mohammad Al Nahedh is suspended for Al Ittihad as is Sepahan striker Luciano Pereira.

A draw in Uzbekistan between Lokomotiv and Al Nasr would be enough to see side into the last 16 with the victor also securing first place..

Lokomotiv will, though, will be without Georgia midfielder Kakhi Makharadze due to suspension.

“We will play for a win in the last match in order to maintain our unbeaten run in the competition and finish on top of the group,” said Lokomotiv coach Andrey Miklyaev.

Also in the West, with Group B's representatives in the last 16 already decided, group winners Zobahan of Iran take on third-placed side Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, while runners-up Lekhwiya of Qatar host bottom side Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan.

And the scenario is similar in Group F with table toppers FC Seoul of Korea Republic, having already assured their place in the Round of 16, travelling to Japan to face Sanfrecce Hiroshima while Buriram United of Thailand entertain Shandong Luneng with the Chinese side also alreasy secured of a place in the last 16.

Premier League Recap - 23 - 24 April
Though the FA Cup took the headlines, we weren't without goals and drama in the league. Mahrez swung Leicester out of Arsenal's reach, whilst those at the bottom came out scrapping. We were treated to 19 goals in the 4 games on Saturday, and whilst Sunday didn't have such a high goals/game ratio, the resultswere equally interesting.

Man City v Stoke
Prediction: Man City 3 - 0 Stoke
Score: Man City 4 - 0 Stoke

Real Madrid, are you watching? Just before the Spanish giants, minusRonaldo, made hard work ofRayo Vallecano, their Champions League opponents walked all over Stoke. As I said in my Iheanacho focus, the Stoke back line were unable to handle the young Nigerian's partnership with the talismanic Argentinian. Iheanacho got two, Aguero one, but in all honesty this could have been even more. Stoke lacked the quality, effort and desire to win, and they were rightly dispatched. I came close to the perfect score, but not close enough.

Aston Villa v Southampton
Prediction: Aston Villa 1 - 3 Southampton
Score: Aston Villa 2 - 4 Southampton

I bet Joleon Lescott was glad to get into bed last night. Booed almost constantly throughout the game, his words came back to haunt him. Though Villa did seem to play with an iota more freedom, they were still second-best. Ashley Westwood's brace could only halve the deficit, as Southampton dominated. The coastal club kept up the pace on West Ham, two points ahead in 6th, and dreams of Europe, well and truly alive. I think we all called this one; Villa have been cut-adrift for a while now.

Bournemouth v Chelsea
Prediction: Bournemouth 0 - 1 Chelsea
Score: Bournemouth 1 - 4 Chelsea

Chelsea recovered from their disappointing defeat to Manchester City with a confident victory over a overly-comfortable Bournemouth side. Chelsea set right the loss they suffered in the reverse fixture earlier this season, but this was at the back of everyone's mind come full time. Most important to the travelling fans were the two goals from the 2015 PFA player of the year. Eden Hazard's first league goals of the campaign have been a long time coming, but they'll have been a huge weight off his shoulders. Another one a few of us saw coming, but I doubt anyone saw this level of Bournemouth leakiness.

Liverpool v Newcastle
Prediction: Liverpool 2 - 1 Newcastle
Score: Liverpool 2 - 2 Newcastle

Half an hour in, Liverpool were two-nil up and cruising. Liverpool's English attackers, Sturridge and Lallana, had fired a pair of beautiful goals and Newcastle looked beaten. Rafa's team-talk must have been brilliant. Papiss Cisse proved his selection over Mitrovic to be astute management, as his leaping header set up a nervy second half. A Liverpool side without the Sakho distraction may have held out for all three points. That wasn't to be the case, and Newcastle stayed within touching distance. Michael W called the draw, and bravo to him for doing so!

Sunderland v Arsenal
Prediction: Sunderland 2 - 4 Arsenal
Score: Sunderland 0 - 0 Arsenal

Arsenal disappoint again. Danny T called the draw, as did Steve T, but we all expected at least one. Not only did the goal produce six fewer goals than I'd hoped for, the spectacle was equally lacking. Hardly a thrilling encounter, this draw will have been satisfactory for Allardyce, but devastating for Wenger. Sunderland bounced out of the bottom three, albeit on goal difference, whilst Arsenal remain in fourth, seemingly their spiritual home. Giroud looked toothless, Ozil limp and Sanchez lacking ideas, as Arsenal floundered in front of a resolute Sunderland defence. Kaboul, Kone and Kirchoff, let's not put those three into an acronym, were unmovable, even when Welbeck and Walcott were thrown on. The only positive for the Gunners? A returning Wilshere, who looks as lively as anyone after his return.

Leicester v Swansea
Prediction: Leicester 1 - 0 Swansea
Score: Leicester 4 - 0 Swansea

Frimpong tweeted the following after Mahrez's opener this afternoon: "Even to this day I still watch Leicester and think how is this possible". I think most of us would agree. Proving the great Mike Bassett right, playing a simple 4-4-2 formation, Leicester coped brilliantly without their top goalscorer, taking the game to Swansea. Vardy's replacement, Leo Ulloa, bagged a brace after the Player of the Year-to-be, Riyad Mahrez, had powered them into the lead. Swansea fought in the face of certain defeat, but this was not their day. This was the day Leicester went 8 points clear, if only temporarily.Stephen Whitepicked this one almost spot-on, being much more complimentary to the leagueleadersthan I.

So how did you all do? Many greenscreens or were they all ruined by Newcastle?
