British singer Zayn Malik, a former member of One Direction, released this Friday, January 29, his first solo single. The singer shared the theme "pillowtalk" accompanied by a video clip, in which dance with the American model Gigi Hadid. In the song, the young promises "being in bed all day" with a mistress "in a place so pure, so raw and dirty." "It is our paradise and it is our war zone," he adds.
The British 23-year recorded much of the album in Los Angeles with producer Malay, known to work with Frank Ocean.
The album will be released exactly one year after leaving Malik One Direction. In an interview to preview "pillowtalk," the singer confessed that he had long been unhappy in the group. "I never wanted to be in the band," he told radio Beast1.
"I just took a chance because I was there at that time and later, when I realized the direction we took (...) with the music, saw that it was not for me," he said.
After they released in November, the first album without Zayn, "Made in the A.M.," One Direction decided to take an indefinite break.
