Newcastle United and Sunderland stand to lose £55m-£65m if they are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season according to football finance experts Deloitte.
Deloitte’s Sports Business Group told ITV Tyne Tees that the vast majority of the reduction in income would be due to lost television revenue - around £50m. The rest of the hit would come through losses sustained in matchday and commercial revenues.
Sunderland play Everton tonight: a win would see them stay in the Premier League and would ensure Newcastle are relegated.
