The 6 Worst Transfers in Premier League

6) Andriy Shevchenko -Roman Abramovich is said to have signed Shevchenko –the best striker on the planet at the time - as a gift for then-manager Jose Mourinho. The Ukrainian was signed for £30 million in 2006, but his scored just nine goals in 48 Chelsea appearances. Chelsea ended up loaning their 'star' striker back to former club Milan.
5) Savio Nsereko -One of the worst signings in Premier League history without a doubt, West Ham signed Nsereko for a reported £9 million in January 2009. The striker had only scored three senior goals for Serie B side Brescia. The Ugandan-born forward started just one game for West Ham that season, and made nine substitute appearances, failing to score in any of them.
4) Konstantinos Mitroglou -Mitroglou signed with Fulham for £13 million in January 2014. The move turned out to be a big mistake as the Greece forward played just three games before the club was relegated from the Premier League. He joined former Olympiakos on a season-long loan in August.
3) Bebe -Bebe was ridiculed in England after signing for Manchester United in 2009 and is regarded as one of Sir Alex Ferguson's worst ever signings. The 25-year-old joined United for £7.4 million from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2010, but after failing to impress in the Premier League, he was sent out on several loan spells.Ferguson later admitted that Bebe was the only player who he had signed without seeing play live. He made just two league appearances for United in a terrible four-year run, before being sold to Benfica in 2014 for £2.3m.
2) Afonso Alves -After scoring 45 goals in 39 games for Heerenveen in Dutch football, everyone was excited about Brazilian-born Alves. What a flop. He can be listed with Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Jozy Altidore in the list of disappointments after he managed less than one goal every four games for Middlesbrough (10 in 42) after arriving for £13 million.
1) Fernando Torres -He was a goalscoring machine in Liverpool and moved to Chelsea in January 2011 for a massive £50 million. That huge sum earns Torres the number one spot on the list. He scored just seven goals in his first two Premier League seasons in London, eventually reaching 20 during his four-year spell. When people talk about a waste of money, Torres is the first name people think of.
